Oh, you guys. I thought Breaking Dawn was "good." But the first 12 chapters of Midnight Sun?

OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN THEY WIN AT THE LULZ FOREVER.

(1) GROWING UP CULLEN IS SO SO SO CANON. Except for the bit where Emmett and Jaspar play chess with 8 boards. Emmett would so not do that shit.

(2) EDWARD OILS THE WINDOW OMG OMG OMG. This book makes me repeat myself in capslock glee! I mean, I should have KNOWN he had been sneaking INTO HER ROOM WHILE BELLA WAS ASLEEP BEING A ~~CRAZY VAMPIRE STALKER~~ "GUARDIAN VAMPIRE ANGEL" but STILL that is just so batshit I CANNOT COMPREHEND.

(3) I love this book if not more than Breaking Dawn, then just as much because of Emmett and Alice. And the 8 million things that prove Growing Up Cullen was like RIGHT ON THE NOSE.

(4) HOW MANY TIMES did Edward have his jaw locked, or lock his jaw, or speak through his locked jaw? I'M JUST SAYIN.

If SMeyer doesn't finish Midnight Sun, I am going to be so depressed. Shit, I want the whole series from Edward's perspective, IT IS THAT GOOD.

So I'm watching Heroes Season 1 as I eat my breakfast and eventually photo editing. But something struck me in the first bit of the episode:

Peter's dreams.

So how much do you want to bet that Angela Petrilli's power is related to dreams? Maybe she's able to influence them or read them or something? Peter probably picked the power of being able to "see" things in his dreams from her - who else would he have gotten it from that early in the first episode?

And when Peter says that he knew Nathan was in an accident, probably the same thing. I'm betting Mama Petrilli has the power to know what's going on through dreams. She's the only reasonable source (except I guess for Daddy Petrilli, but I sort of doubt he has that power... Heroes is lame enough to have Mama get the womanly intuitive power and Daddy get the manly action! power).

I'm on episode 12 of Mad Men Season 1. It's very good, although frequently makes me feel so very awkward. Also, I'm a little in love with Harry/Rich Sommer, not gonna lie. He's by far the least obnoxious of Pete's crew, and I heart him and his glasses and him lasting the longest in the race to have an affair between the married men. Vinnie K is great, but you know, he's the character you're supposed to hate.

All I have left is Episode 13, and I already have the first episode of Season 2 waiting for me. Then I'll be all caught up!

I just made myself a huge bowl of pasta. I really need to go grocery shopping.

I find it really amusing that every intentional shot I try to make at pool... I'm lucky if that happens. When I decide to just hit stuff, I am approximately 8 million times better. I made the best unintentional shot today, in which I actually managed to HOP the 8 ball. I don't know how I did it. But it was awesome. Of course, it left the 8 ball sitting right on the pocket so I lost 3 shots later, BUT STILL.

I'm 3 episodes into Mad Men. This show is making me so very very very glad I did not live in the 50s. Although the clothes are pretty fantastic.

Today at work it was hell, coupled with bad news, combined with a lack of food and total absence of patience on my part. I am not a happy camper.

So now that all the news from Comic-con is starting to trickle out (or, I am slowly catching up to the mountain of reports)...

I find myself completely frightened by the Heroes spoilers. I may be done with this show. I will give it a chance, but WOW, every spoiler I've read/preview I've seen has made me very very doubtful that the quality of this show is ever going to approach Season 1 levels. I may keep watching for HRG though. I still love him.
Completely the opposite: the tiny spoilers concerning BSG are completely AWESOME.
Dollhouse. Is it time yet? PLEASE?
On a completely shallow note, the outfit that Katee Sackhoff wore to the BSG panel? HOLY MOTHER OF GOD.
Eliza and Tahmoh seem like they are going to be great leads. Also, that photo of Joss, Tahmoh, and Eliza on the EW site (I am far too lazy to look up the link but it's on whedonesque) is AMAZING. Bromance!
Jewel Staite has really blonde hair now? I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Ah, no really, I just want to mention how happy all the BSG tidbits are making me. The best one? "Bamber loves, though, that Apollo is Princess Leia to Sackhoff's Han Solo (his analogy), always in need of rescue." Heeeeee.

Watching Office Season 3 now, but I am going to try and watch some Mad Men today. Since I sort of missed that boat completely.

Now that I'm home and not on the bus, crying after Viv and I stopped hyperventilating.

I want to thank everyone for voting, and especially those of you who reposted my desperate pleas for help, especially dizzysyd who hit up here and myspace, but there were at least 4 other people who did and I LOVE YOU.

This seriously ranks up there with the 2004 World Series in terms of being one of those moments where my heart just seems to stop because it is so fit to burst with pride and love and other gooey emotions. This is a lot more personal though. I've known this band for a very long time, and they are truly lovely people who deserve a chance to have their music heard. It was a flawed contest that caused a lot of stress, a lot of carpal tunnel, and a lot of abuse of capslock, but in the end, I truly feel the right band won (yes, I am completely unashamedly biased).

So I will let you guys know as we start going through the process of getting ready for this show. There's a lot to be done. The band is currently recording in Raleigh, but they will be back next week and then it's prep prep prep. We have to figure out merch, promotion, all sorts of stuff.

It's a brand new day ;D

(And in other news, I got the mohawk back. I was seriously on my way to get my mohawk back for good karma in the Coldplay contest when Viv called. I am not taking credit, just still completely 100% amused at the coincidence.)

Doctor Horrible Act III thoughts, since I just managed to get the site to work (albeit in the most hurky jerky fashion ever) on the Mac.

I actually think I feel more betrayed and heartbroken by this ending than I did in Dark Knight?! WTF?! Haha, thanks Joss! I should have seen it coming.

(1) Nathan's hero song could be my favorite, just because it's SO... wow. Also, his "I think this is what pain feels like!" = LOL.

(2) Poor Penny. Oh man. I wonder how many emails and comments Felicia Day is going to get.

I'm going to attempt something resembling English and not descend into OMG AHHHH, but I really don't promise anything.

There are MASSIVE FRICKIN SPOILERS. Don't read it if you haven't seen the movie. Really.

I'll tell you now. The movie is LONG. I went in for the 10:10 showing and when I got outside it was 1 o'clock.

A sidenote: The showing I was in... it was me, maybe 20-30 adults that had obviously blown off work, a few teenagers, and about 15 guys from Walter Reed, most of them missing limbs or in wheelchairs. I may have eavesdropped on these soldiers while we were all on our way out to see what they thought of the movie, and I was sort of surprised that they were all actually just pissed off about the same thing I was pissed off about.

And actually, I'll get my ONE complaint out of the way now.

WHY OH WHY DID YOU ALREADY KILL OFF TWO-FACE?! Good god, Aaron Eckhart was INSPIRED in this film. As much as Heath Ledger was fantastic in all the right ways as the Joker, Eckhart had the most complete character arc out of ANY of the characters - the entire movie, we watched as he tried so very hard, and the Joker played him perfectly, and we watched as the White Knight of Gotham turned into Two Face. And he's dead. Already. COME ON. I had this same complaint with the Spiderman series - they bring in a villain like Venom in Spiderman, have one real confrontation in the climax of the movie, our hero prevails, and we're stuck with one face-off when it probably could have been the next (in Batman's case, REALLY FREAKING AWESOME) movie.

OK, now that that's over and done with.

Seriously, this was like the film version of BSG for me - it hit every single storytelling button I have. I cried at least twice. I'll admit, there were a few points (especially very early on) when I had trouble keeping my eyes on the screen because I knew something violent was going to happen. But I managed to watch.

The Joker. You know, as much as I want Eckhart to get an Oscar nom, Ledger is obviously going to get one. And while a lot of that will be for Ledger's brilliant acting, it should also be a sign of how well written the Joker was. This is the first time I have ever felt like a superhero villain has actually been a terrorist - and that's why I agree with whatever review it was (I've read a lot today) that this doesn't really feel like a superhero movie, it feels like a crime drama that happens to have masks and gadgets. Anyway, back to the Joker. The fact that we never found out what his scars were from, but got a different story that suited the Joker's whims, PERFECT. The Joker's weird infatuation with Batman, the "You complete me scene," PERFECT. The magic trick with the pencil? PERFECT X A MILLION. The crowd I was with couldn't decide whether to laugh or be horrified. Pretty much everyone made this awful laughing gasping sound. THAT'S PERFECT. (That was one of the parts I had a problem watching, actually. I saw it coming a bit before everyone else in the theater did.)

Harvey's slide into obsession, and finally into an obsession with "justice" - man. His story breaks my heart, and during the scene where Harvey and Rachel are on the phone with each other, and they know one of them is going to die, and Harvey *knows* it will be Rachel... and then he sees Batman and just starts screaming. Holy shit. That was the first time I started crying. That entire sequence was amazing. Also, I was very glad that Alfred burned Rachel's letter.

This movie also made me love Gary Oldman a RIDICULOUS AMOUNT. I seriously FREAKED THE HELL OUT when he "died." And when he showed back up, the audience cheered. Gordon is rocking. I'm glad he was given a lot more to do.

[God this movie is impossible to write about, because there's just so MUCH of it.]

Let's see. Holtz [Keith Sznfuwnsgdbjaka god only knows how his last name is spelled and I'm too lazy to IMDB him but he was on Angel] is in the movie! So is NESTOR something, aka crazy eyeliner man, aka Richard from Lost.

Lucius continued to be awesome. The bat sonar was really a great bit of technology to keep the film interesting on that level of look, gadgets!

Maggie Gyllenhaal was solid as Rachel, although I mean, it's hard to stand out in a movie when you're going up against Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart, plus Bale, Oldman, Caine, and Freeman. But I as I said above, the hostage scene with her and Eckhart was amazing, and I was very very surprised that she did in fact die. [I mean, obviously, Harvey wasn't but still!]

The best shot in the entire movie? The Joker, leaning out the window of that police car, like a dog. [I'm just a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it.]

ETA: Oh, the second time I cried was at the very end during Gordon's speech. It was a little close to over the top, and I totally didn't care.

This movie is sort of eating my brain alive, and I have a lot more to say about it, but I do need to see it again. And again and again and again. This movie EASILY breezed into my top movies of all time. Give my brain a chance to settle down, and it could be stealing that top spot.

Hi guys. I have a HUGE favor to ask of you all. You know Juniper Lane, that band I love and adore and would marry as a collective whole if I could? They're in a contest to open for Coldplay. That's right, mothereffin COLDPLAY at the VERIZON CENTER in front of a SOLD OUT CROWD. This could be the big break. I love these guys (and girl). I've known 'em for 6 years. They took a dorky college freshman under their wing, gave me beer and advice and friendship, came back from the worst of circumstances. Viv was in a coma for a week after falling during a rock climb, and after a year of rehab she came back stronger than ever. These guys DESERVE success.

La la la, I am still in Doctor Who world. I read some of the posts from who_daily and LAUGHED and LAUGHED and LAUGHED. I tried to start a cut-tag about what I read, but I can't even formulate real thoughts re: that thing that happened at the end due to an intense food coma from just chowing down 13 potstickers, which was glorious.

I just made myself a couple of Donna icons and now I feel that all is right in my world. Also, my brain keeps getting eaten by random Donna plot ideas - like, Donna survives the apocalypse and the Galactica crew finds her and she and Roslin become BFF.

One post - Journey's End story that made me grin like a sad sad fool, but YES I LOVE IT. Spoilers, naturally: The Dream of a Fantastic Life

The more I think about it, the more I absolutely and utterly love it. The Doctor's still alone, Rose gets some weird version of a normal life with DuplicaTen that is both completely fake and completely real, Donna's story ends on the most tragic note I have ever seen this show take (which, you know, I'm weird and I love dark endings like that), Martha and Mickey totally gonna go rock the Torchwood (restart Martha/Gwen shipping NOW), and it's just like everybody is happy and no one is all at the same time. Which are the sorts of endings I love and adore.

I'm sort of expecting wank about how Rusty hates women with what he did to Donna, and yes, it's a terrible end to the character and I have seen some pretty violent reactions to it, but I for one am totally down. Catherine Tate said in the Confidential that it's sad, because Donna's never going to reach her full potential without the Doctor, but I think that's a bit overly gloomy. There's still a chance for her. I'd like to think that maybe Jack would keep an eye out for her too.

On a completely random note: DOES THE FACT THAT DUPLICATEN GOT LEFT IN THE ALTERNATE DIMENSION WEARING THAT HIDEOUS BLUE SUIT MEAN WE WILL NEVER SEE IT AGAIN? PLEASE TELL ME YES, PLEASE. I just thought of that on my second rewatch - Hey! DuplicaTen is wearing that suit I can't stand! GOOD!

I will say that I am not looking forward to the Cybermen AGAIN.
